61. Minor personality disorders
Types of personality disorders
Each disorder is distinguished by specific traits. Paranoid disorder is characterised by excessive mistrust and constant suspicion. Schizoid disorder manifests as a marked lack of interest in others. Schizotypal disorder is distinguished by eccentric ideas and behaviour. Being eccentric is not a fault in itself; it simply means refusing pretence, which can require a great deal of energy. Moreover, the origins of these disorders are known and lie in the fields of biochemistry and neuroscience, with dopamine dysfunction notably implicated in positive schizophrenia.
