Internal representation is linked to a reassuring model offered by the mother or father and plays a part in building the fundamental identity in which the AS finds calm and attachment. Identity formation is a mechanism typically observed in neurotypical people, whose absence is striking in the AS, while attachment nevertheless takes shape.
