31. Affected speech
An AS person who expresses themselves with a certain affected refinement has a remarkably subtle vocabulary. However, they often seem unable to grasp implications and understand social conventions. Some specialists regard this affected speech as a disorder. It thus reflects unelaborated communication — a monologue punctuated by precise elements that escape understanding — and consequently provokes reactions and mockery.
I believe this disorder is not simply affected speech, but a communication problem. Be careful not to interrupt this impulse if you are not ready to understand those who stand out. The AS person approaches things somewhat differently, whether in mathematical calculations, ways of speaking or ways of thinking. The survival of tomorrow's humanity may depend on this minority of today.
